Captain's Log

Lt Thelin and my replacement crew have embarked on the Qa'Re bound for the Klingon Starbase Veslan. They are due here in four weeks. Meanwhile we are doing what final preparation we can to keep the ship's true potential a secret.

Stardate 51090.4 (Jan 30th)

Lt Syvok, Ensigns Watts and Sterman embark on the USS Torrens bound for Klingon Starbase Veslan. They are to be the last of my replacement crew. Each of these officers is distinguished and worth waiting for. I had thought I would be unable to get them, but I still had a few favours owed me.

Stardate 51114.7 (Feb 7)

The USS Torrens encountered the IKC F'Kew near an uncharted nebula. After warning them away it left them alone. Sensor logs show a strange Warp emanation detected coming from teh F'Kew.

Stardate 51135.6 (Feb 14)

The USS Torrens reported sustaining damage due to an unknown phenomena. On further investigation it was found to be the shock wave resulting from the destruction of the Romulan Warbird in vicinity of the USS Torrens. A Klingon computer core and other Romulan materials were salvaged. Further examination of the computer uncovers a conspiracy to leak holes in the Klingon defence grid to the Romulans by Toral, leader of the House of Durass. The USS Torrens was given permission to travel above Warp 5 so it could join the Qa'Re and be towed to Veslan.

Stardate 51141.3 (Feb 16)

USS Torrens is taken under tow by the Qa'Re. Apparently there was an incident with one of the Klingon officers and Ensign Sterman, but the Klingons have dismissed the matter, and I have decided to do likewise.

Stardate 51177.3 (Feb 28 06:00)

The last of my crew arrived at Veslan. They were briefed on the political climate in the Klingon Empire at present, namely the two factions vying for the High Chancellor position. Toral of Durass, claiming they need stronger diplomatic ties with the Romulans and Federation, and the House of Niroth, which plans to sever all ties and return to the warrior glory of the past. Unwittingly we have become embroiled in the situation by recovering data logs from the Romulan war bird. Appartently both sides want the salvaged core and the information it contains, one to use as evidence, the other to hide their guilt. Neither position suits us or the Federation.

Captains Log Supplementum. (Feb 28th 12:00)

The Warp core containing the incriminating evidence is scrambled and retunred to the Klingons on Veslan in the hope that this would extricate us from the politics involved without showing partiality to either side. The USS Explorer departed Veslan. We were given a map and warned to be on the watch for automated Klingon defence satelites still active from ancient times.

Stardate 51312.7 (April 14th 16:00)

Mistaking it for one of the Klingon automated probes, the We encountered an unidentified vessel and lone occupant. The vessle attacked us, and breached our hull, enabling the pilot to board us. Four crew were killed, and another injured before the intruder was eliminated. It's ship was disassembled and taken aboard. I have appointed Ensign Sterman to Chief Engineer, and Lt Syvok to Acting Captain, though this is not disclosed to the general crew, rather he is named as First Officer. I have been forced to divulged that I am presently a hologram run from the life support system in Medical. He took the news well, and I believe will make a good Acting Captain till a replacement of appropriate rank can be found. He does nto yet know about the Explorer's secret.

Stardate 51312.8 (April 14th 18:00)

The IKC F'Tang arrives. Captain Kara and Chief Engineer Patark beam aboard and told us of the Lyan Race. They tried to discourage us from continuing our mission, but my orders from Starfleet are clear.

Stardate 51333.5 (April 21th 11:23)

We observed two cub ships engaged in mortal combat. Through careful observation of tactics we were able to determine that their Solid-Projectile Guns are not likely to damage our shields. We recovered the body of a Lyan warrior, which Chief Medical Officer Ruby is examining.

Stardate 51339.4 (April 23th 09:00)

The reports of the skirmish on Stardate 51333.5 were compiled. We recieved a request to pick up a Klingon shuttle.

Captains Log Supplementum. (April 23th 10:00)

Natagar joins crew as an assistant Engineer, and asks our aid to find the IKC B'hemoth lost near this location some since Stardate 51093.9. I have met Natgar's father in battle. He was a strong warrior and it was a pitty to kill him. Many things were done in the Dominion War that we would like undone.

Stardate 51357.6 (April 29th 15:00)

We have found the B'hemoth, but there are no signs of life. An away team has been sent to determine her fate, and try and slavage her for the Klingons.

Captains Log Supplementum. (April 29th 15:20)

We have detected a Lyan vessle approaching and are moving to intercept it. The B'hemoth's communication array is not responding, so we can not alert our away team.

Captains Log Supplementum Stardate 51357.7. (April 29th 15:30)

Negotiations with the Lyan did not go well. The ship was significantly larger than the shuttles we have previously encountered. They would not be detered from destroying the B'hemoth, and used their shield penetrating weapon on us. Our core was destabalised and we were forced to eject it for fear of a warp core breach. Without Warp power were were in no position to take on the Lyan.

Captains Log Supplementum. (April 29th 15:50)

Due to some split second timing by the away team and crew we managed to destroy the Lyan vessle at the sacrifice of the B'hemoth. None of our people were lost. We have even managed to recover the experimental warp core the B'hemoth was using to replace our own. One Lyan was taken prisoner and is now being held sedated in Med bay for examination.

Stardate 51360.4 (April 30th 09:00)

The reports of the skirmish on Stardate 51357.7 were completed. Five things stand out from the reports. Firstly it seems that the Lyan are not open to much negotiation, but are willing to give non-Klingons some consideration. Secondly, the entire crew of the Klingon vessle seem to have been eaten by an unknwn entity. Tactical reports suggest the entity is attracted to heat and the smell of food. It is also very tough and fast, able to carve it's way through four Klingon bridge staff. Accoriding to Ensign Stermen the Lyan may have simple Phase technology. This is worth considerable investigation. The Lyan prisoner has developed a viral condition which is worth note (ref Lyan Virus). Finally, the Warp Core is being fitted and, not surprisingly given it is in fact a Trilithium core, the engineers are finding the systems already set up to take the extra power load. Admiral Pressman has been alerted to this new development.

Stardate 51366.5 (May 2nd 12:00)

We have arrived at the rendesvous with the USS Chapcupi where we will be taking on supplies and new crew. One of the cre is Lt Commander Metcalf. He and I do not see I to eye, and it will be difficult to judge how he will react to our current situation.

Stardate 51375.8 (May 5th 18:00)

We have recieved a distress call from an unknown origin and are moving at maximum warp to their location. I have taken this opportunity to brief the crew on my unique situation. Metcalf initially would not comply, but has chnaged his mind and agreed to continue as first officer.

Captains Log Supplementum. (May 5th 18:50)

We have arrived at the source of the distress call. It appears to be a Lyan Station. It is undergoing power failure and there is sign of weapons fire aboard. After our use of the Charge feature of the Trilithium Engine we are without Warp Power for about 20 min. In that time I have sent Metcalf with an away team on the shuttle to investigate.

Stardate 51375.9 (May 5th 20:00)

It is with a full heart that I log the death of another first officer. In initial contact with a new species Lt Metcalf was KIA, and Syvok rendered Medically Unfit for Duty. However the efforts of Watts, Sterman, and Natgar have recovered the situation. They were able to pacify the agressive being that was invading the Lyann station as well as make first contact with the Lyan leader called Tigren. Once we had won the Tigren's approval by temporarily masking the symptoms of the "Plague" the Lyans are suffering from we were given the full support of the local Lyan.

Stardate 51378.3 (May 6th 06:00)

The situation has progressed in an unforseen manner. The Tigren's acceptanc of us, and our ability to reduce the syptoms of this "Plague", all be it temporarily, have seen us win great favour in the eyes of the Lyan. We have been invited to stay on the station while we repair the damage to our ship. I am keen to do so for two reasons.
Firstly, my own personal predicament may be aided by the Lyan understanding of Phase technology, which they incorporate into their torpedoes, allowing the to detonate inside the hull of enemy vessles. I believe it is this weapon that killed the crew in 51312.7, and which could now see my full recovery.
Secondly, Since Ensign Crystal's disclosure that the "Plague" is in fact a constructed Bio-genic weapon, I have decided it is vital we determin its origin and find a remedy. Naturally we can take no direct action such as sending a small team in the Explorer to investigate the Klingon and Romulan Terriotries. For that we would need some method of cloaking our ship from their sensors, which has been banned by the Treaty of Algeron in 2160. So my entire crew will remain on the station while we refit.
