Alpha Shift

Designation given to define the duty roster of one quarter of the crew. This is not a designation used aboard the USS Explorer.

Anti-Deuterium

Since matter and antimatter have to be carefully balanced the exact opposite partner to Deuterium is used in the M/ARA.

Antimatter

Objects with the same properties as matter except reversed completely. Matter electrons have a negative electrical charge. Antimatter electrons have a positive electrical charge.

Anti-Matter Containment Pods

The US Explorer has four Anti-Matter Containment Pods stored on the lower deck in front of Main Engineering. The USS Sutherland has 24 stored on Decks 22 and 23.

Antimatter Injector Reactors

The module at the base of the Matter/Antimatter Reaction Array that pumps Anti-Deuterium into the Warp Core.

Automatons

A self articulated Robot capable of independent action. A Robot that is not required to maintain it’s position, but may perambulate in order to function as an Automaton. Many, but not all, Automatons are considered Races unto themselves.

Automaton Development

Project established to experiment and develop a series of Automatons that can increase the operation of a Starships function with a decreased crew compliment.
