Daystrom Institute

The highest center for technological research and learning in the Federation. It has annexes and departments on many different worlds. Commander Bruce Madox heads up the robotics research department, as well as assisting in the cybernetics department.

Dedication Plaque

Commemorative plaque located on the Bridge of all Federation Vessels.

Delta shift

Designation given to define the duty roster of one quarter of the crew. This is not a designation used aboard the USS Explorer.

Demonstration Bell Intro 5

During Captain Bell’s introductory speech to new crew he fires a Phaser at a predetermined section of the wall. The Nanites inside have been warned to stay clear and then act to repair the wall as a form of demonstration of their abilities.

Docking Ports and Latches

Used for hard connections to a Starbase or other Vessels. The USS Explorer has one, situated in the center of the lower deck between the Teleporter room and the Computer Core.

DS4

Starbase Deep Space 4 is stationed between Trill and the Psi 2000 Nebular . Created near the beginning of the Federation it has been more or less forgotten, since nothing of interest lies in it’s vicinity. It is the closest station to the New Territories , and the first port of aid for the USS Sutherland.
