- ECH
- Emergency Captaincy Program. This program exists only on the USS Explorer and is a link between the individual in the Phase Life SUpport Chamber in the Medical Lab and the EMH program. When the EMH is not running this allows the individual to act as a normal member of the crew wherever Holographic emitters are positioned. In this capacity, Captain Ajax Glass was able to continue to command the USS Explorer despite being traped in phase space by a malfunction in the testing of the new Phase Cloak.
- EEH
- Emergency Engineering Hologram that acts in a similar capacity to the EMH , only for Engineering functions. It requires working Holographic emitters and a connection to the EEH database. Due to restricted Computer core storage on the USS Explorer, she does not have an EEH program.
- Emergency Batteries
- Supply power for a short period in case of complete Fusion Generator failure. The USS Explorer has minimal batteries, but may re-draw stored power from the Pulse Phaser Banks.
- Emergency Engineering Kit
- Basic kit contains everything a field engineer may need. Most Starfleet officers are trained to use these in a minor capacity.
- Emergency Medical Kit
- Basic kit contains everything a field medic may need. Most Starfleet officers are trained to use these in a first aid capacity.
- EMH
- Emergency Medical Hologram serves as a short term supplement to normal medical crew in times of greater than predicted stress. It requires working Holographic emitters and a connection to the EMH database. Despite the restricted Computer core storage on the USS Explorer, she is equiped with an EMH. The extended functional life capacity (instigated following the experiences of the USS Voyager) has been disabled, used instead to support the ECH.
- Environmental Support
- See Life Support Systems
- EVA suits
- Extra-Vehicular Activities, since they are performed in a vacuum, required sealed atmosphere suits. These are standard and designed to take a minimal amount of abuse. They include magnetic boots to keep user attached to the outside of the hull.
- Explosive Decompression
- The rapid expiration of gas into a less dense atmosphere, caused by sudden breach of the intervening barrier, such as the ship’s hull. In these cases all air and most materials will be "sucked" out into space and lost.
