- Captain's Log
- Recording of the insights of the ranking officer on a Federation vessel. Used in supplement to a Black Box recording.
- Captain's Log Supplementum
- An addition to the Captain's Log that is not significant enough to require it’s own entry, or falls within a significantly short time from the last dated entry.
- Captain’s Ready Room
- Captain’s Yacht
- A dedicated shuttle craft for the exclusive use of the Captain. Only the largest starships have these. Deck 18 of the USS Sutherland's Primary Hull is, in fact, a large shuttle craft although it was never mention or used in any series episode.
- Cargo Bays
- Storage rooms for equipment that needs to be transported. The USS Explorer has one small store room, but it's modular design means it can have additional storage modules fitted to the lower deck.
- Cargo Transporters
- Designed to shift large amounts of non-living material. Can be switched to Quantum Resolution at the expense of the mass quantity.
- Chief Communications Officer
- In charge of communications. and, in this case of the USS Sutherland, much of the ship's mission specs were to do with communications.
- Chief Engineer
- Makes a Starship not blow up. On the USS Sutherland his role is more as a go between since the majority of Engineering staff (being Automatons and the likes of Lt. Shale) are not the sort to invite to a briefing in the Conference Lounge.
- Chief Helmsman
- Also known as Chief Helm Officer, or Chief Con Officer. Drives a Starship. In times gone by he would be assisted by a navigator, but now his task is so computer assisted that he tends to serve both functions.
- Chief Medical Officer
- Also known as CMO. In charge of all Medical concerns on the vessel. The only person aloud to relieve the Captain from active duty without mutiny proceedings, or a vote of all Bridge Crew.
- Chief of Operations
- Also known as Chief Opps Officer or Chief Systems Officer. Works the Sensors . It is their role to distribute the facilities to all the groups on board the ship. They would decide whether it’s the Stellar Cartographer’s or Astrophysicist’s turn to use the Sensor Array, and how much computer power any given group may use at a set time.
- Chief Tactical Officer
- Works ships Weapons and Shields as well as coordinating any away team military action.
- Civilians
- Non-Starfleet personnel who still come under the banner of the United Federation of Planets.
- Class, Planet
- Pertaining to Planetary bodies. Defines what type of planet and it’s properties at a glance. All large interstellar objects can be categorised in these terms, although a specific object may go through a number of categories in it's life.
- Class, Vessel
- Pertaining to Starships. Defines what type of Ship and it’s abilities at a glance. All large interstellar power has a set of Class designations for their vessels, and it is rare for them to vary.
- Cochranes
- Power output from the M/ARA is measured in Cochranes, named after Zefram Cochrane, the inventor of the Warp Engine
- Coffee, Farmers Union, Iced
- Instructions given to the Replicator in the Captain’s Ready Room on the USS Sutherland and USS Explorer. It produced a FUIC in a plain white cup, since Farmers Union (makers of the legendary Farmers Union Iced Coffee) have not yet come up with enough money for proper sponsorship. Hopefully this will be rectified soon.
- Com pins
- The Federation Com pin incorporates a tiny subspace transceiver. Activation relies on the pressure of the owners finger, and each pin is calibrated to respond only to the dermal imprint, and bio-electric profile of it's owner. Active range is only 500 km.
- Con
- Another name for helm.
- Conference/Observation Lounge.
